The 16th of May, a Grade 5 lesson is a Purple Mash task (2Do). Its titled: The Princess and the frog. This tutorial looks at triggering object movement (frog and Princess). What is a trigger or event? Triggering -in this case- is the act of the mouse -set off by the left button. This activates the object’s motion on the screen up, down, left or right. This lesson moves from the click event to get to the collision event -touching objects. There is a brief reference to the stepping through code section.

Bryneven Primary: Sprites, Movements in Scratch programming
Many new learners have turned up today. We even had a Grade 0 coming through -keen to learn more how computers work. Today’s lesson dealt with movement, bringing it on by using the up, down, left and right keys of the keyboard, to move within a defined boundary. In this we referred to the X and Y axes.

We had a difficult score to achieve -with the mixed age group in our computer centre (Purple Mash room). Our group comprises a small group of coder, with young and older learners; seeing how computers work – with a few players – to kill time. The lesson examined the brief life of a sprite, the movement on stage with our sprite. In the investigation, we have referred to the X and Y axes. The random feature brought a sense of automation; the cat bounced off the edge too.

We consequently moved our tennis ball sprite into the game -The ball uses the keyboard functions. The idea was to strike the moving feline; The idea was to hit a moving feline; This caused a collision event. Today’s lessons are related to the ongoing coding work -in Purple Mash lessons. Here we are dealing with the most famous apple in history -that struck the head of the famous scientist Sir Isaac Newton.

In this lesson, we tried to stop the game by providing a background for declaring victory. The background was used to make this announcement with some text.
